Charles Piazzi Smyth (1819 -1900) was Astronomer Royal for Scotland and Professor of Astronomy at the University of Edinburgh. He also made extensive studies at the Great Pyramid in Egypt and became a founder and leader of the cult of pyramidology and Anglo-Israelism. He also published many significant studies on astronomy and meteorology. Though his commitment to the British-Israel concept may have been unfortunate, he did believe the Bible and sought diligently to apply its teaching to his scientific studies.
